George's Page (Our Angel Boy)

George was born asleep on the 3rd August 2002 a day our family will never forget.

There had been some concerns before Val my wife had some blood presure problems but after going into hospital for a couple of days and being put on medication that had all settled down and Val had been sent home. Well we'd had a few checks after that and everything seemed to be going ok though they were concerned his limbs were a little smaller then they should be and thought he may have been downs. Well anyway we went for a normal check up the day before the two older boys were with us to Val had an ultrasound but the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat but said not to worry he's just probabley lying akward i'll just sent to over for a scan to make sure im sure it'll be ok. Well we all went to the scan room and Val had the scan well we knew from the look on the doctors face something was terribley wrong then came those terrible words Im so sorry your baby has died we were both in shock and the boys too a terrible moment no parent should have to go through but far to many do unfortuantley as we discovered soon after. Well Val was given a couple of tablets to help with the labour as she would have to deliver George as he was 37 weeks gestation we were told to come back on the Sunday 3 days later but warned things may take there own course sooner which they did the next night Val went into labour and little George was born perfect but asleep forever he weighed 5lb 5ozs and had a mop of black hair. Since that awfull time we have had two more children James & Victoria of course they'll never replace George and he'll have his place in our familys hearts forever. I only wish now we'd have taken more pictures these and a lock of his hair which Val wears around her neck are all we have and of course we have him always with us in our hearts.

We found out a few weeks after that George had died because there were some blood clots in the placenta apart from this there was nothing wrong with our little man we soon were to discover how all to common this happens and in a lot of cases the reason is never found why I was so naive I never even thought about anything so awfull could happen to us but since then ive come to know so many others the same has happened to and who understand what I and my wife have been through something that no parent should have to endure but all to many do.
